How did you get started in Martial Arts?
I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu about 3 years ago – it was something I always wanted to do because I had heard how meaningful it can to all aspects of your life and was more than just another form of exercise. After time I then picked up Mixed Martial Arts to make myself more well-rounded.
What was your first experience like at Legends MMA?
It was great! I didn’t feel nervous at all after I met with the instructor and the other students. I felt the great vibe instantly and came straight back next day.
What is your favourite thing about Legends MMA?
Everything really. The MMA instructor Chris has a huge passion for teaching which is what I wanted in a gym – someone who cares about their students! Also I’ve made heaps of good friends here and I love coming in and catching up with everyone.
How has your training developed with the support of the trainers and your team mates at Legends MMA?
The MMA instructor Chris is a seasoned professional who knows what he’s talking about and my striking, wrestling and takedowns have really improved from training with him. Plus having good sparring partners and teammates makes Legends MMA a good environment to learn.
How does Martial Arts keep you motivated?
I have found that no matter how bad of a day I am having that I always feel great after doing some training…punching and kicking some bags and pads is a MASSIVE stress reliever for me.
What accomplishments are you most proud of inside of the gym?
Being one of the more experienced guys in the studio I take pride in helping a lot of the new guys who come in to train get better.
How has taking up Martial Arts changed your life outside the gym?
Martial Arts has definitely made me more confident in all aspects of my life…which is exactly why I started in the first place. There’s a certain confidence that comes from anything that teaches you a practical skill for self-defense, gets you fitter and introduces you to heaps of new people.
What advice would you give anyone looking to try Martial Arts?
For anyone who has thought about taking up Martial Arts, the best time is now, so just do it. And for anyone who is looking to improve their life to either get fitter, get more confident or to meet new people, then definitely give Martial Arts a crack!
