I’ve never trained before, can I still become a member?
Absolutely! At Legends MMA we emphasise the ability for you to develop your skills in a safe and friendly environment. Your trainers at Legends MMA are able to facilitate all fitness and skill levels, ensuring you get the most out of your training.
Are you a fight gym or can anyone join for fitness?
Legends MMA is open to everyone of all skill levels to join. Most of our students have no interest in professional fighting, they train for fitness, self-defense or just developing great Martial Arts skills. Anyone who does wish to be part of our fight team must first start by taking part in the regular classes. If they show potential, they will be selected to take part in our invite only fight team training.
At Legends MMA, our trainers conduct classes to ensure the safety and confidence of each member regardless of skill level and prevention of injury to our members is a priority that we take seriously.
Do you train females?
Yes! we have many female members who train in Martial Arts with us to improve their self-defense skills, increase their fitness and have gained lots of confidence. Legends MMA is also supportive of female students who want to compete and take their training to the next level.
I’m a seasoned fighter, will I still benefit from the group training?
Training in a group offers more advanced fighters experience and skill development that can otherwise be difficult to achieve training solo. The ability to effectively read a variety of different opponents and react instinctively to changes in rhythm, pace and style are a few of the benefits gained by having access to a range of fighters per class.
Whist our trainers do a great job of ensuring each member is pushed to their own personal limit in class, including one-on-one training with our qualified coaches will ensure your technique and fitness has you fight ready.

I have purchased a membership and it will be my first time training at Legends MMA, what do I do?
If you have purchased a membership and it will be you first time training at Legends MMA than all you need to do is simply refer to our Timetable and attend your preferred first class 10 minutes early where our friendly instructors will greet you. You do not need to register for a class, just rock up!
If this is your first-time training in your chosen Martial Art, we may have some attire (e.g. BJJ Gi) to loan to you for the duration of your session however this is not guaranteed. If this is not your first-time training and you already have the appropriate equipment, please feel free to bring them along with you.
I have signed up for a Free Intro Class...now what?
If you have clicked on “Free Intro Class” and created a MindBody account than that’s it…there is no need to register for a class. Simply refer to our Timetable and attend your preferred class 10 minutes early where our friendly instructors will greet you. You do not need to register for a class, just rock up!
If this is your first-time training in your chosen Martial Art, we may have some attire (e.g. BJJ Gi) to loan to you for the duration of your session however this is not guranteed. If this is not your first-time training and you already have the appropriate equipment, please feel free to bring them along with you.
As a general recommendation to all of our members, we advise a sweat towel and comfortable workout clothes are brought to each class.
Is there a dress policy for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Please note that at Legends MMA we have a uniform code for our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes to emphasise our team atmosphere. For our Gi classes team members should train wearing a White Gi and for No Gi classes team members should wear Black shorts (no zippers, no pockets) and Black rashguard/tights. If it is your first time training we may have some spare clothing to loan you.
Can more than 1 person have Personal Training?
Whilst we recommend keeping personal training sessions one-on-one, we appreciate it can be more fun training with a friend, partner or colleague. Therefore, we can allow for more than 1 person in a single session however prefer to cap training at no more than 2 participants – especially if participants have different strength, skill and fitness levels.
How many times a week should I be training to get results?
Three times per week is a sweet spot for most of our students, giving them a chance to get in a steady rhythm of training and improving their fitness whilst still having days off to rest and manage recovery.
Training less than three times per week will gradually improve your fitness however progress in skill development in your chosen Martial Art will be slow as lessons will be less frequent and disconnected.
Training more than three times per week is for those who are serious about wanting to compete. At this level of training you will need to be better disciplined with your recovery and managing your body through your training. By far, it will be the most rewarding for your chosen Martial Art.
Legends MMA recommends beginners aim at 2-3 classes per week whilst your body adjusts, then working to train up into 3-5 classes per week.
Are there opportunities for members to socialise outside the gym?
At Legends MMA, we value getting to know our members and creating a team environment both inside and outside of the gym. Whether it be getting together for a UFC fight night, supporting our members in a competition or a team dinner in the Melbourne CBD, there are lots of opportunities to socialise with other members.
